Terms of Service

Effective Date: 13 August 2025

Company: Unravel Global, Inc. ("Company", "we", "us")

Service: Unravel Global Platform ("Platform") - an online service for contracted business customers ("Customers") to submit verification requests ("Verification Requests") for review by our network of independent fact-checkers and journalists ("Fact-Checkers") and receive fact-check reports ("Results").

By using the Platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

1. Eligibility and Access

  • Access to the Platform is limited to authorized representatives of Companies who have executed awritten contract with us.
  • No public submissions are accepted. All Verification Requests must come from authorized Customer accounts.

2. Fact-Checkers and IFCN Commitments

  • Fact-Checkers engaged through the Platform are independent contractors unless otherwise specified.
  • All users participating in the verification process, whether as Fact-Checkers, editors, or reviewers, must adhere to the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) Commitments.
  • Violation of these commitments may result in immediate suspension or termination of access.

3. Ownership of Content

  • Ownership of Results: We own all rights, title, and interest in and to the Results, including all intellectual property rights. Customers receive a license to use the Results internally in accordance with their contract.
  • Customer Content: Customers retain ownership of Verification Requests and any supporting material ("Customer Content") submitted to the Platform. By submitting Customer Content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use it internally only for:
    -  Processing the Verification Requests
    - Improving our services (including AI model training and classifier development)
    - Quality assurance, auditing, and record keeping
  • We will not publish Customer Content or share it externally without written permission.

4. Personal Data in Customer Content

  • Customers acknowledge that Verification Requests may contain personal data (names, images, social handles, etc.).
  • Customers are the Data Controller for all personal data contained in Customer Content.
  • Customers must ensure:
    - Submission and processing of such data is lawful under GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable laws.
    - All necessary notices and consents have been obtained before submission.
  • We act as a Data Processor for such personal data and will process it solely to provide theServices and in accordance with the Data Processing Agreement (DPA) attached to or referenced inthe Customer's contract.

5. Restrictions on Use

Customers shall not:

  • Share Results with third parties except as permitted in their contract.
  • Use the Platform to submit material that is illegal, defamatory, infringing, or violates privacy rights without a lawful basis.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer or disrupt the Platform.
  • Circumvent access controls or security measures.

We reserve the right to immediately suspend or terminate access for violations.

6. Service Level, Refunds, and Turnaround

Service levels, delivery timelines, and refund policies are governed by the Customer's separate written contract with us.

7. Disclaimers and No Professional Advice

The Platform and all Results are provided "as is" and "as available".

  • We make no warranty regarding accuracy, completeness, or reliability.
  • Results are informational only and do not constitute legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice.
  • Customers are solely responsible for decisions made based on the Results.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • Our total liability to a Customer for all claims in any 12-month period shall not exceed the total fees paid by that Customer in that period.
  • We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, special, incidental, punitive, or exemplary damages, including lost profits, business interruption, or data loss, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

9. Termination

  • We may suspend or terminate access immediately for violations of these Terms or applicable law.
  • We may retain Customer Content and Results after termination for compliance, auditing, and internal purposes.

10. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the state of Delaware.

Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco, California, and each party consents to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time, and the updated Terms will apply to all future use of the Platform. Material changes will be communicated to active Customers.

Short Acceptable Use & Participation Rules

  • Only authorized Customer representatives may submit Verification Requests.
  • Fact-Checkers must follow IFCN Commitments.
  • Results are for internal business use only unless otherwise agreed in writing.
